Where did it all begin?
Hi, my name is Amanda Cameron (Mandy) in this page I would like to tell you where this all began for me, and hopefully give you some inspiration to help you on the road to success.
I came into the fitness world purely by chance; I had always considered fitness and exercise as the work of Satan. How wrong could I have been? I was extremely over weight and unfit, as my weight soared and my health diminished, I found it increasingly difficult to do simple things, like climb the stairs. I could not understand why I was putting on more weight; I would lose a pound and gain two. I tried all sorts of weight loss plans, diets, and products. Nothing seemed to work, and I slowly became a different person, I hated myself for not being able to do this and lose the weight as I had been able to years ago, I didn’t want to go out, I made excuses not to, anything, rather than go through the agony of having to find something to wear.
At my whit’s end I went back to the doctor, where I was told, as I had been on many other occasions, only this time it was not said delicately and nice and in a way not to upset me, to simply eat less and move more, well I never! I felt hurt that he thought this was my fault; surely there was something medically wrong with me. I wouldn’t put myself in this position and not only risk permanent irreversible damage to my health but my life had become a series of excuses and hidden behind the jolly fat woman was a very sad person, why would I do that.
So off I went, I thought “I'll show them this isn’t my fault” and I started to go for walks, not far just round the block, and well, blow me over, I started to lose weight, and that’s when things started to change.
I am one of those people that just has to know why. I am sure I was a painful child with the constant, “why” questions. During my mission to find out why such a simple thing had worked. I not only saw the light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel, I qualified as a CYMCA level 2 fitness instructor, I am a member of the register of exercise professionals, REPs. I have since taken lots of other courses and qualifications including, CYMCA level 3, Nutrition and weight management, via Halifax Primary Care Trust, .
I have also managed to lose 5 stone.
This does not make me an expert in all health and fitness related conditions, but coupled with my personal weight battles and past experience, it does give me firm ground to stand when giving advice.
